How to Dress for a Wedding Without Florals

Written by Homa Zaryouni -

Love aside, weddings are an amazing style occasion. Guests are asked to bring out their their best garments and lock away their inner style goth for a day. It's the one occasion where bonafide New Yorkers become truly comfortable in pastels and large floral prints. If that's your jam, keep flipping through the wedding style guides, and of course, our Daytime Funtime and Florals collection.

But for some of us, pastels and florals bring back memories of Sunday school, stuffy dinners, visits to that mean old person - basically any event we wanted to call in sick for. I get it. At age five, I declared my refusal to wear dresses because they itched. They didn’t physically itch; my parents hated polyester and believed cotton was the only appropriate fabric for children. I think what I meant was my personality was itching to escape from under those cutesy pieces that looked like they should belong to someone else.

So, here is our roundup of wedding dresses for the edgy girl. Keep cool without a flower in sight:

Reformation Isabella Dress

Halston Heritage jade dress

BCBG backless dress

Reformation wrap dress

Halston Heritage Dress

Alice + Olivia open back dress

3.1 Phillip Lim Dress

Champagne dress by ABS

3.1 Phillip Lim dress with spikes

Self-Portrait Dress

If you noticed, we cheated a little on the last one. It's a floral, but a non-floral floral. The laser-cut and cabernet color make it an edgy pick.
